Nietzschean Penguin
"One of them caught our eye, he would neither go towards the feeding grounds at the edge of the ice nor return to the colony — shortly afterwards we saw him heading straight towards the mountains, some 70km away. Dr. Ainley explained: even if he caught him and brought him back to the colony, he would immediately head right back for the mountains… but why?"
— Werner Herzog, Encounters at the End of the World, 2007
This is the famous text that Werner Herzog voiced over the famous 2007 documentary 'Encounters at the End of the World'. The video shows a Penguin that decided to leave his life of comfort in the colony behind him, to follow his dreams of seeing the mountains.
The old documentary footage resurfaced on the internet paired with an organ version of the song L'Amour Toujours in January 2026. The top comment said 'Nietzsche spoke of this'. The video quickly grew to tens of millions of views, and people started making their own edits and videos of the Penguin with the music.
In a time where pessimism is so widespread, people saw the Penguin as a big inspiration. 'Be the Penguin' and 'Embrace the Penguin' became synonym terms people told each other to put their chins up and work towards their dreams.
The Nietzschean Penguin community aims to give back to Penguins around the world. We've been working with Global Penguin Society to support them in their cause in their research and preserving penguin species.
In total they have protected 32,000,000 acres of marine and coastal areas for penguins.
So far, the Nietzschean Penguin cryptocurrency community has donated $2000 to Global Penguin Society, and part of the trading fees on the coin will continue to be used to support the charity.
This means that every time someone buys the $PENGUIN coin, they're directly helping to save Penguins.
